What is Impotency ?

March 31st, 2008 · No Comments · What is Impotency ?

Simply put this means that the male is unable to achieve and sustain an erection necessary for sexual activity. This can happen at some time in any man’s life, but should this become a repeated situation, then the cause needs to be found and treated.

Does this mean a lack of interest in sex, lack of virility or sterility?

No,

none of these. The inability to have and maintain an erection does not denote any lessening of interest in sexual activity, virility, lack of strength and power, or sterility.

Diet

March 31st, 2008 · No Comments · Uncategorized

Obesity is a condition caused largely by poor food and eating habits. In the US, almost 60% of the population are considered to be clinically obese, in spite of the wealth of information regarding diets, or ‘magic’ fat busting pills etc. nothing seems to have any impact on the situation. It is up to the individual to decide whether obesity coupled with a sedentary lifestyle could be having some detrimental effect and then do something about making the necessary changes. Changing your lifestyle habits could help to determine whether or note cause for your impotence.

What Does Medical Diagnosing Comprise?

Normally it will take the form of obtaining a medical and sexual history, questions will be asked about smoking, alcohol consumption and whether or not any medications are currently being taken. Mainly the physical side of the examination will include taking blood pressure and just a standard examination. If there is an underlying medical cause, laboratory tests on blood and urine will help to determine treatment needed.

Impotency-Should The Male Accept This and Learn To Live With it ? NO

Impotency - Should The Male Accept This and Learn to Live With it? NO

Impotence can be a source of emotional stress, and in turn this will lead to a loss of self-confidence, poor self-image and maybe depression. It is one of those health areas which provokes a feeling of embarrassment and reluctance to discuss the problem, but this means that the condition, as long as it is not diagnosed, remains untreated. Medical advice must be sought to obtain the best and most appropriate treatment.

As mentioned earlier this condition is a very difficult condition to live with, but if you are in a relationship the best thing to do is discuss openly with your partner the problem rather than bottle things up as this will lead to more problems.

Is Impotence a Natural Sign of Aging ?

March 31st, 2008 · No Comments · Is Impotence a natural sign of aging

Not necessarily, although as you would expect there is a higher incidence among older men because of age-related conditions, vascular disease, diabetes, etc. Any disorder that causes nerve injury or an impairment of the flow of blood to the penis may cause erectile dysfunction. The medications for these diseases can add to the problem. Impotence is not a natural nor acceptable part of growing old. Erectile dysfunction is treatable at any age, and awareness of this is growing and this has lead to more men seeking help and returning to normal sexual activity. Between 15 and 25 percent of 65 year old men experience erectile dysfunction, but it should not be taken as inevitable because of aging.
